New Milton
Probus Club
If you are not a current member, why not consider joining
New Milton Probus Club
The Probus organisation is a well renowned local, national and international group of retired and semi-retired gents, (we also have a thriving lady’s section).
We meet at the South Lawn Hotel in Milford-on-Sea on the third Thursday of every month.
Every month the lunch is preceded by committee business and guest speaker whose talk covers many differing topics. During the year we have excursions to places of interest along with trips which include overnight stays. We also have the occasional evening event which might / could include a meal.
Two major events during the year are the Annual Dinner and Spring Lunch which are attended by our wives and partners.
A typical meeting starts at 10-30am with coffee, then we enjoy the presentation from the guest speaker, followed by convivial conversation over lunch. The meeting ends around 2-00pm. New members are always welcome.
Contact the Secretary Roger Osbury for more information.

The Rebirth of a Railway
Charles Clark
Charles Clark will give a talk to our members and guests entitled “The Rebirth of a Railway.” His presentation covers the restoration of the Welsh Highland Railway and uses “then & now” photographs of the 25-mile (40.2 km) long heritage railway. Operating from Caernarfon to Porthmadog the railway passes through a number of popular tourist destinations including Beddgelert and the Aberglaslyn Pass. The restoration, which was mainly performed by volunteers, has received several awards.

The Club - Who we are, and what we do.
The New Milton and District Probus Club was formed over 40 years ago and currently has around 35 members. We are a group of retired business and professional men who wish to retain a social network with their peers who have similar interests. The club is run by a small committee who are elected annually by the members.
The Club meets on a monthly basis on the third Thursday of each month. Our meetings are held at the South Lawn Hotel in Milford-on-Sea. The meeting commences with coffee followed by a short introductory business session. The speaker secretary of the club is responsible for organising an interesting guest speaker for each meeting, with an opportunity to ask questions before retiring to the bar for some convivial chat, and a drink of course!
A two course lunch, with menu choices including a vegetarian option, is served for the enjoyment of the members.
The club is very active in organising social events which generally include wives and partners. The events vary from wine appreciation, skittles and even short holidays!
Members wives and partners enjoy meeting for a monthly coffee morning and the occasional lunch - see information in the Panel above.
The club welcomes new members and you would be most welcome to join us for a taster meeting. There are several ways to join the club. If you have a friend who is a member, please ask if you can come along to a meeting as a guest. Alternatively, complete the application form below and send it to the club secretary, Roger Osbury.
Roger can be contacted by phone 07527245313
or by e-mail; secretarynewmiltonprobusclub@gmail.com
Roger will be pleased to speak with you and explain the procedure for applying to become a member.
Indeed, if you are new to this lovely part of the Country, joining our Probus club is an ideal opportunity to make new friendships
